*Jacques took the initiative right away to seat himself next to Lauren, now a bit behind her as she scoots her chair forward. His eyebrows raise in intrigue of the subject matter, and he leans forward himself to show his most charming grin*

You're talking about romantic love, aren't you?
henamesthesky at 2010-07-19 06:26 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*Since they got here together at the back of the line, it was natural to park his chair next to Diego's. He's got his arms folded across his chest as Lauren starts to talk. This the first of these sessions he's attended, so he's not sure what to expect. He lets Jacques finish flirting before saying anything.* What would you say about it, Lauren? Are we talking about experiences, or thoughts, or both?

princess_paups at 2010-07-20 01:30 (UTC) (PermaLink)
Um, well... *she falters a little bit beneath their questions, but rallies herself.* We already talked about family, so I thought...yes, we could talk about romantic love! Does anyone have...um... experiences to share?
Diego Armando

Love is as sweet as sugar but as bitter as coffee. A dark brew with a swirl of lightness. As long as life but as brief as a heartbeat.

I don't know if anyone who's felt love needs to ask about it, but I'm willing to talk about it. I've loved many times, but I've only been in love once.

I'll never be in love again.
henamesthesky at 2010-07-20 04:25 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*After Diego finishes speaking, there's a pause, so he steps into it. Better to get this out of the way.*

I've loved and had affection for people, but I've never been "in love". Not in the way that you mean, Lauren.
I think love is a powerful force, some times creative, sometimes destructive. I've seen what it can do to people.
Mimi Miney
chevrolady at 2010-07-20 04:38 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*Mimi rolls her eyes at Diego's dramatic prose, although for the time being she keeps silent about it remembering their "civil agreement." Her attention is focused on Jacques--she's wary of his 'handsome devil'ish smile and how close he's sitting to Lauren. She is genuinely surprised though at Acro's words, which momentarily distract her.*

Like, you never had a girlfriend or anything, Mr. Ken? Seriously? You're so nice!
henamesthesky at 2010-07-20 05:06 (UTC) (PermaLink)
Thanks, Mimi. But yeah, I've dated.
When you move around a lot it can be hard to form long term, exclusive relationships. I always thought there would be time later for that kind of thing.
There have been some girls I liked a lot, maybe even loved. But nothing like the kind of love Diego is talking about. Most of the love I've seen has been lighthearted. I don't think I've ever seen love like that.
Diego Armando
nosugar_nomilk at 2010-07-20 05:17 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*smiles at Ken* That's right. I don't think English has enough words for love. The inadequacy of the language makes us call a shallow flirtation by the same name as a true, deep passion, and in truth those two things have nothing whatsoever to do with each other.
henamesthesky at 2010-07-20 05:40 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*he nods, his face serious* No, they don't. I think people get those things confused, flirtation and true love. When they can't tell the difference, they can be hurt so easily.
Jacques Portsman
olympiclogic at 2010-07-20 10:45 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*He turns Mimi's way when he feels eyes on him, and gives her a guy-nod of acknowledgment. But he glances to Diego and Ken as the conversation continues, and pipes up when he sees opportunity to.*

Well this is certainly a dramatic note we've hit, isn't it. On the brighter side of things, who here can say they've had good experiences with romance? *he raises his hand*
Diego Armando
nosugar_nomilk at 2010-07-20 14:45 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*He listens to Jacques, nods. He doesn't raise his hand, but he gestures with it in acknowledgment.*

*wryly* Oh, that's right, we wouldn't want to get too serious in a therapy session, would we?

I've certainly had many good experiences with romance. What made you think I hadn't? I thought I'd implied as much. Just because I've tasted bitter, that doesn't mean I haven't known sweet.
Jacques Portsman
olympiclogic at 2010-07-20 19:39 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*he regards Diego with his usual flippant grin, and spreads his hands*

Then I'm sure you already know! Love's supposed to be a beautiful, inspiring thing, is it not? Something that makes your heart beat faster than the last seconds of an NBA game!

So, inspire us with a more positive story, won't you?
Mimi Miney
chevrolady at 2010-07-20 20:10 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*Mimi smirks and jumps on the opportunity like a cheetah on a gazelle.*

Well, like, most of my boyfriends in high school were pretty fun. But like, it's funny--I never expected to meet anyone special in a place like this. *She neglects on purpose to mention there's two people who's company she enjoys.* But y'know, love comes to you in unexpected places, I guess.
Diego Armando
nosugar_nomilk at 2010-07-20 20:27 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*to Mimi* Ah, is this "therapy session" now an excuse to make veiled remarks that don't fool anyone? I see. Pardon me if I'm not in the mood to witness a lot of inexpert flirting.

*to Jacques* In any case, I'm not obligated to inspire anyone, and even if I was, you're not the moderator. I wonder--do you think it's possible for someone to have a heart so dishonest that they can't even feel real love?

Mimi Miney
chevrolady at 2010-07-20 20:51 (UTC) (PermaLink)

((Here we go again :P))

*scowls at Diego* You're not the moderator either, y'know. If you can go on about a girlfriend gone by or whatever, then I can talk all I want about guy friends I like now. I'm just sharing the love like everyone else here, so like, tough coffee cake!
Diego Armando
nosugar_nomilk at 2010-07-20 21:04 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*laughs* No need to take it personally. If Jacques doesn't enjoy my take on the subject, I don't see why I need to go along with his. But it's just a friendly conversation, after all, isn't that right?

If you think I've been rude, then please, tell us all about the guys you like. *He folds his arms.*
Mimi Miney
chevrolady at 2010-07-21 01:35 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*smirks* Now we're talking.

*She leans back in her chair.* Like, I won't name names, but like I said, I didn't expect there to be fun gentlemen here. Especially ones who take good care of themselves and have such totally awesome smiles. Like, with good taste in bikes and fingerless gloves, might I add. Men who know how to show a girl a good time, even in this joint! Chivalry is like, super attractive.
Diego Armando
nosugar_nomilk at 2010-07-21 01:59 (UTC) (PermaLink)

[[sorry, typo!]]

Now, I'm the last person who'd say anything against chivalry. However. Not naming names, of course, but I wonder if those men are actually chivalrous, or if they're shallow, self-absorbed murderers. Just curious.

I also wonder if you're confusing love with infatuation. What do you think--in the interests of friendly conversation, that is?
Mimi Miney
chevrolady at 2010-07-21 04:11 (UTC) (PermaLink)

*She was expecting him to bring up the whole "murderer" thing, but she decides to genuinely answer his question.*

Well I'm a murderer too, so like, that's just another thing we have in common. Everybody here has their little reasons, right? But yeah, I mean, if you want to get technical about it, like, I guess they're just crushes right now. *Her voice carries a mischievous tone of hope.* It's still a nice mood-lifter!
Diego Armando
nosugar_nomilk at 2010-07-21 04:24 (UTC) (PermaLink)

...everybody here has their little reasons?
Diego Armando
nosugar_nomilk at 2010-07-21 04:33 (UTC) (PermaLink)

Speak for yourself. Not all of us feel that way. I don't think I'm here for any little reason. I took a life, to save a life. And though I made a terrible mistake, I did it out of love--since love is what we're supposed to be talking about.

If what you have in common is a complete lack of conscience, then I suppose you deserve each other. I personally find your sentiments reprehensible.
Mimi Miney
chevrolady at 2010-07-21 04:53 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*Winces* Okay, okay, maybe little was the wrong word! I just meant, like, not all of us are here for something like murder. *She points a thumb in Lauren's direction.* Paups here didn't kill anybody. Like, I guess I meant "different" reasons. Jeez.

*She doesn't address his noting of her apparent lack of conscience--she can't exactly say she feels guilty for her own crime.*
henamesthesky at 2010-07-21 04:56 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*he glances at Diego, then addresses Mimi*

I'm not here for a "little reason" either, Mimi. I tried to kill a girl. She was just a teenager, someone my brother was infatuated with. She flirted with him but didn't understand or return his feelings, she was just having fun.
She played a joke on my brother that put him a coma. Probably for the rest of his life.
She didn't understand he wasn't coming back to the circus. She didn't care.

I wanted her to understand what she'd done, and I wanted her to die. I tried to make it happen. But she couldn't understand. She didn't die. My father did.

Love is something that demands respect. It's a tremendously powerful thing. It changes people. What you're talking about is flirting, dating, having fun. It isn't love.

So enjoy yourself, Mimi. But be honest about it.
Mimi Miney
chevrolady at 2010-07-21 05:04 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*Her eyes widen and her mouth drops finally hearing Acro's story. She knew he'd been arrested for murder, but had never heard the story as to why. It's hard for her to wrap her head around, but for now she realizes she's goofed big time.*

Y...Yeah. You're right. I'm sorry.
Jacques Portsman
olympiclogic at 2010-07-21 05:09 (UTC) (PermaLink)

[aaggh been at work all day]

*After Mimi's comment about liking someone, he checks his hair, runs his tongue over his teeth, and finds himself glancing at his gloves-- yep, fingerless. He doesn't remember them ever chatting about bikes... but maybe she was just mistaken. Quite the smug grin crosses his features, but he directs his comment towards Diego.*

Yeah, we're all here for screwing up. But that doesn't mean we're not capable of compassion, does it? Sorry if you think otherwise, but some of us can be a bit more honest now that the gig's up and we're stuck here with time to think.
