*laughs* No need to take it personally. If Jacques doesn't enjoy my take on the subject, I don't see why I need to go along with his. But it's just a friendly conversation, after all, isn't that right?

If you think I've been rude, then please, tell us all about the guys you like. *He folds his arms.*

*smirks* Now we're talking.

*She leans back in her chair.* Like, I won't name names, but like I said, I didn't expect there to be fun gentlemen here. Especially ones who take good care of themselves and have such totally awesome smiles. Like, with good taste in bikes and fingerless gloves, might I add. Men who know how to show a girl a good time, even in this joint! Chivalry is like, super attractive.

[[sorry, typo!]]

Now, I'm the last person who'd say anything against chivalry. However. Not naming names, of course, but I wonder if those men are actually chivalrous, or if they're shallow, self-absorbed murderers. Just curious.

I also wonder if you're confusing love with infatuation. What do you think--in the interests of friendly conversation, that is?

((S'cool!))

*She was expecting him to bring up the whole "murderer" thing, but she decides to genuinely answer his question.*

Well I'm a murderer too, so like, that's just another thing we have in common. Everybody here has their little reasons, right? But yeah, I mean, if you want to get technical about it, like, I guess they're just crushes right now. *Her voice carries a mischievous tone of hope.* It's still a nice mood-lifter!

...

...everybody here has their little reasons?

Speak for yourself. Not all of us feel that way. I don't think I'm here for any little reason. I took a life, to save a life. And though I made a terrible mistake, I did it out of love--since love is what we're supposed to be talking about.

If what you have in common is a complete lack of conscience, then I suppose you deserve each other. I personally find your sentiments reprehensible.

*Winces* Okay, okay, maybe little was the wrong word! I just meant, like, not all of us are here for something like murder. *She points a thumb in Lauren's direction.* Paups here didn't kill anybody. Like, I guess I meant "different" reasons. Jeez.

*She doesn't address his noting of her apparent lack of conscience--she can't exactly say she feels guilty for her own crime.*

*he glances at Diego, then addresses Mimi*

I'm not here for a "little reason" either, Mimi. I tried to kill a girl. She was just a teenager, someone my brother was infatuated with. She flirted with him but didn't understand or return his feelings, she was just having fun.
She played a joke on my brother that put him a coma. Probably for the rest of his life.
She didn't understand he wasn't coming back to the circus. She didn't care.

I wanted her to understand what she'd done, and I wanted her to die. I tried to make it happen. But she couldn't understand. She didn't die. My father did.

Love is something that demands respect. It's a tremendously powerful thing. It changes people. What you're talking about is flirting, dating, having fun. It isn't love.

So enjoy yourself, Mimi. But be honest about it.

*Her eyes widen and her mouth drops finally hearing Acro's story. She knew he'd been arrested for murder, but had never heard the story as to why. It's hard for her to wrap her head around, but for now she realizes she's goofed big time.*

Y...Yeah. You're right. I'm sorry.

[aaggh been at work all day]

*After Mimi's comment about liking someone, he checks his hair, runs his tongue over his teeth, and finds himself glancing at his gloves-- yep, fingerless. He doesn't remember them ever chatting about bikes... but maybe she was just mistaken. Quite the smug grin crosses his features, but he directs his comment towards Diego.*

Yeah, we're all here for screwing up. But that doesn't mean we're not capable of compassion, does it? Sorry if you think otherwise, but some of us can be a bit more honest now that the gig's up and we're stuck here with time to think.
Diego Armando
nosugar_nomilk at 2010-07-21 05:37 (UTC) (PermaLink)
Are you paying attention to anything other than your hair over there, beautiful?

If you recall, I wasn't naming any names.

If you believe one of my remarks is aimed at you, maybe that says more about you than it does about me. I don't remember saying that any particular person lacked compassion. I didn't care for the remark, so I objected.
Jacques Portsman

*he smirks in response*

Aaand that's exactly what I just did. I wasn't naming names either. That was a perfectly general statement.

Though, for the record, I can be plenty compassionate.

*Still feeling rather awkward but not wanting to remain silent for the rest of the session, she jumps in with a playful response.*

Yeah, like, you should see him around us ladies. Or maybe I'm mixing up 'compassionate' with 'flirty'. *She smiles at Jacques.*
Diego Armando
nosugar_nomilk at 2010-07-21 18:35 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*to Jacques* What I meant was that I never said no one in here had compassion. So if you weren't speaking for yourself, your comment was irrelevant.

*and to Mimi* Yes. You are confusing them.

*Diego rolls his eyes, but sadly, no one can see him do it.* I'd like to remind you, this is a conversation about love. Not ridiculous prison flirtations. Does anyone have anything relevant to say?

*Once he's said that, he turns to Acro and speaks in a lower voice.* You all right?
Ken
henamesthesky at 2010-07-21 19:16 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*It's like Mimi didn't even hear him, it's hard for him to understand. He empathizes with Diego's frustration.*

There's a big difference between "compassionate" and "flirty", Mimi. If you can't distinguish one from the other, maybe you shouldn't put yourself in situations where it matters.
I guess my point was lost on you - or maybe you just don't want to hear it. Or maybe you just don't care.

*He turns toward Diego, nods.* I'm okay, Diego. Thanks.
