Mimi Miney

*Her face slightly reddens at first in anger towards Armando (or maybe it's because of the heat?), but her cheeks blaze and her mouth drops at Jacques' comments.*

N-N-Now wait just a sec, J! When did I ever make any, like, professions of love here?! *She suddenly loses her train of thought as she remembers his other comment.* W-Wait, wait a sec, are you seeing... *Her eyes jump from him to Lauren and back*
blueskyesmiling at 2010-07-24 00:58 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*Roused from whatever she's been contemplating by the rising voices, Lana softly clears her throat. She looks briefly at Mimi, feeling some small sympathy for her, and then shifts her gaze to the others*

Contrary to Mr. Armando's assertion, it's probably quite therapeutic for some of these buried feelings to come out. But perhaps it would be kinder to yourselves to reveal some of these secrets in private?

*He nods at Lana, respectfully.* You might be right, Ms. Skye, but at the same time, that's exactly my point.

I don't necessarily agree with the principles of group therapy, but it's meant to focus on group bonds, not on the individual. That's why I think this line of conversation is inappropriate and unproductive.

For once, I'm going to agree with Mimi. Jacky, there's no call to disrespect her like that. Bringing up these private details in a public therapy session is unfair to the other parties involved. I did mention your conspicuous flirting, yes, but only because it was already a part of the discussion. You've gone too far.
blueskyesmiling at 2010-07-24 01:31 (UTC) (PermaLink)
Group bonds... but romantic love is an especially exclusive emotion, don't you think? Even speaking of it requires someone to violate some level of intimacy. *tilts her head* It's an interesting quandary.
henamesthesky at 2010-07-24 03:53 (UTC) (PermaLink)

((sorry, typo!))

*He's been taking it all in, arms folded across his chest once more.*

Yeah, I don't really know what therapy is supposed to be like, but I don't know if this is actually helping anyone. It doesn't seem like this is even what Lauren wanted to talk about.

*He glances at Mimi, then addresses Jacques.*
It's okay that you weren't interested in what I had to say. I'm no authority, and you're not obligated. But what you're doing, now, that was what I meant. Not every flirtation or even date has to lead to something big and meaningful, but you should try not to hurt other people while you're having fun. Especially someone you say you like, someone you treat as a friend.
If your good time comes at that someone's expense, I don't think very much of it.
princess_paups at 2010-07-24 11:48 (UTC) (PermaLink)
A-Actually... *Lauren is bright red, but rather than her shy self, she looks rather cross!* I think Jacques if fine to say whatever he likes! Um, I mean, as moderator, that what I think. Especially if it's the truth.

Re: ((sorry, typo!))

Especially when... I'm the one doing the hurting...!!

*He's been taking the negativity in stride-- mostly. His jaw was clenched and his temper threatening to rise, feeling rather cornered. But when Lauren chimes in, he turns; he's a bit surprised by the look on her face, and ends up grinning rather widely.*

Ahha, our sweet little moderator has spoken! Thank you, Lauren. Constantly being told my thoughts are wrong is hardly therapeutic.

But how on earth are you hurting anyone? You're helping us all out here.
Mimi Miney
chevrolady at 2010-07-24 19:30 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*Mimi finds herself agreeing with Jacques--about Lauren, that is.*

Like, yeah Paups, you didn't do anything! *She feels a wave of guilt wash over her; she didn't mean to help upset the young lady.* I'm sorry though. Like, I didn't mean to, like, totally derail the conversation there. My bad.

*She casts Jacques a 'look.'* You're not wrong J. I mean, not exactly. You can say what you want, but y'know, you've been being obnoxious too.
blueskyesmiling at 2010-07-24 20:14 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*uncomfortable with having made a young lady unhappy* I apologize, too, if I've somehow made you upset, Ms. Paups. I only worried that some truths might prove embarrassing if aired in public, and Ms. Miney was looking quite unhappy.

Perhaps... *hesitates, torn between the awkwardness of "sharing feelings," and the desire to be more social as she promised Ema* I'll tell you about my first love. If it would help the session.

*To Lauren, with a polite smile.* Your word is law, of course, as you are our moderator. But you don't have to be upset. You haven't hurt anyone. And we all very humbly apologize. *Still agitated, he gives Jacques an irritated look, though the effect is lessened by his visor. Then he quickly turns to address Lana, glad to have the subject changed.*

I think that sounds like a fine idea, Ms. Skye.
blueskyesmiling at 2010-07-25 00:40 (UTC) (PermaLink)
Then... if it will help.

*Slowly, with much hesitation, as if she is considering each sentence, Lana speaks. Her tone is distanced--perhaps even a touch cold.*

I spent much of my life too busy for love. My sister and my studies, my career preoccupied me. But when I started working as a detective, I found I had more time. Ema was growing up and... I found myself becoming quite good friends with a fellow officer. It started as joking, harmless flirting. I didn't consider it anything serious. I was fond of him, of course, and somehow I didn't notice that I was fonder and fonder still...

And then I ended our friendship, for reasons of my own. We stopped speaking in any capacity other than work.

*Her mouth twitches and turns her face slightly away*

...Strangely, that's when I realized I had loved him.

But it's not a possibility, now.
Diego Armando
nosugar_nomilk at 2010-07-25 01:29 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*Serious, his tone is more gentle when he speaks to Lana.*

Why isn't it a possibility?

I don't think it's ever too late. You shouldn't give up on love. In some ways, it's all we have.
blueskyesmiling at 2010-07-25 01:53 (UTC) (PermaLink)
*turned slightly away from Diego* That door is closed to me now. Certain actions are not reversible.

... It's true for some romantic love is a beacon. *now turning her gaze on Diego, she smiles slightly, her expression a touch nostalgic* For instance, I always admired her love for you.

But it's not always that way. For me it's simply not a priority.

*she shrugs and falls silent*
Diego Armando
nosugar_nomilk at 2010-07-25 02:07 (UTC) (PermaLink)
Don't be too sure about what's possible and what isn't. If the heart is still beating, there's still hope.

You're right, it's not that I mean everyone needs romance. But love, in the end--love of any kind--is all we have. And if you've had love, of any kind, you shouldn't give up on it.

*He smiles at her, a little sadly.* And thank you, Lana.
